Group Workings

Our group began this project as a collective of four Computer Science majors and two Art majors. We started with a rough storyboard and half a concept for a story. Over our first few meetings, we began to flesh out the rest of the plot and decided that we’d take a shot at creating an original style of animation that would combine 2-D animation with a 3-D environment. The technique we were pioneering was a code-based animation designed to make the images appear to be assembled from a collection of paper strips.

We divided the story into a number of scenes and assigned two to each member who was then responsible for creating accompanying storyboards. Once we had settled on the storyline, we began character sketches that would be conducive to a 2-D environment. The foundations for actually creating the said environments were all composed in Illustrator. The characters were made of curves and designed in Maya.
