Paper Conditionally Accepted to SIGGRAPH Asia

The paper Accelerometer-based User Interfaces for the Control of a Physically Simulated Character by Takaaki Shiratori and Jessica Hodgins has been conditionally accepted to SIGGRAPH Asia 2008. Congratulations to the authors.

Disney Research Lab opens in Pittsburgh

A new Disney Research lab is opening here at Carnegie Mellon (official press release). The lab will be about a block away from campus, and should allow for some interesting collaborative projects.

SCA 2008 Knot

The paper Action Capture with Accelerometers by Ronit Slyper and Jessica Hodgins has been accepted to the 2008 Symposium On Computer Animation. Also slated to appear is Achieving Good Connectivity in Motion Graphs by Liming Shao and Graphics lab alum Alla Safonova. Congratulations to the authors.

Lillian Chang awarded Harriett G. Jenkins Pre-doctoral Fellowship

Lillian Chang

Lillian Chang has been awarded the NASA Harriett G. Jenkins Pre-doctoral Fellowship. She was one of approximately 20 students across the US selected this year to recieve this 3-year fellowship. Congratulations!

'Bounce' to be Exhibited

Bounce still frame

Bounce, a single channel animation installation, was accepted to 20" x 20" x 20": A National Compact Competition and Exhibit. This exhibit can be seen at the LSU Union Art Gallery from March 16 - Apr 4.

The piece was created by Moshe Mahler and Laurel Bancroft.
