Suporn Pongnumkul's Final Project Proposal

Followed from the first assignment in our class, I will be working to get some color improvement for the images for the Russian Empire. I will make use of the 122 manually combined images from the Library of Congress. The idea of the global color improvement is to register the naïvely aligned image, which I will now call the "bad image", with the corresponding manually combined image, which I'll now call the "good image." Then, we find a mapping of color intensity from the bad image to the good image for each color channel. With 122 images available, 61 of them will be the training images, which are the images that I'll train the mapping on. The rest of them will be the test images, that is, they will be put through the mapping to get a (hopefully) better image.
The hard part of this work is the image registration part. The image that was manually combined was not exactly a translation from the original image. Hence, more work on image registration is required.
